Title: Trees, trees and more trees!!! Post by: rvready on March 31, 2006, 01:31:23 AM In a summer daytime I cannot travel by bus from my town karimnagar (AP) to Hyderabad... its not that we dont have buses..there is one every 30 min but beacuse of the intense heat....hardly I can see any trees on either sides of the road, and in some places, surprisingly, miles away from the road.
Trees are essential to balance the weather, reduce air pollution. Yet we do cut them off , and may be its due to which we, in AP, have prolonged summer for the past few years and rainfall's meager (sorry I do not have facts or stats to support the statement) I urge people that if u need to cut one at least plant and care for one. You are Right that, we should plant more trees to save our Climatic problems of Environment. But that does not help the Noise pollution? for which we should think & develope a New Generation who stop the NOISy Products like MOTOR CYCLES, Old Junk MOpeds, RICKSHAWS to change their EXHAUST WITH SILENCERS SAME TO CARS ETC. But that is one part of the NOISEPOLLUTION. We should too think that, During Marriage, or Opening Ceremonys through VIP a Big band, with highest Dbs Noise is produced thus harming the inside of the EAR, some time young people loose their Sense of correct hearing at an early life? and many such problems of Health can be saved if we STOP THE NOISE.?and many other measures Title: Re: Trees, trees and more trees!!! Post by: Bhola on May 04, 2006, 11:16:03 AM TREES TREES & MORE TREES: a High level discussion on Indian Banana took place recently at UN. where as 20 % of the worlds production comes from Indian BANANAS of quality is now lost due to the ENVIRONMENTS PROBLEMS, erossion of FORESTS etc. some of lines refd in the discussion I am adding here for those interested people who respect ENVIRONMENTS requirment & its results.
"BANANA, SPREAD FROM INDIA BY ALEXANDER THE GREAT, THREATENED ON HOME TURF – UN New York, May 3 2006 " India is the world’s biggest banana grower, with an annual production of 16.8 million tonnes, or over 20 percent of total world output of 72.6 million tonnes in 2005 of the world’s most exported fruit and fourth most important food commodity after rice, wheat and maize in terms of production value. But overexploitation and the loss of forests as a result of encroachment and logging, slash-and-burn cultivation and urbanization are causing a rapid loss of wild banana species that have existed in India for thousands of years. Among them are the ancestors of the Cavendish variety, the large, pulpy dessert banana which currently accounts for virtually all of world trade, amounting to nearly 20 million tonnes a year. India’s lost bananas include a variety which conferred genetic resistance to the dreaded black Sigatoka fungus disease that devastated plantations Only one clone of the species, whose scientific name is Musa Acuminata spp Burmannicoides, remains at the Indian Botanic Gardens in Calcutta. Title: Re: Trees, trees and more trees!!! Post by: VOA Admin on May 10, 2006, 06:17:34 PM It is very sad to know that a species that existed for thousands of years is dying because of people who doesn't care. Such things really stir up a thought in many people's minds to do something about it but it vanishes when people really don't respond to the call and fail to realize what they are losing.
