Like India, America is a democracy and Americans, like Indians, are democratic to the core. The essence and spirit of democracy rests on three pillars – representation, majority and minority. In theory representation can be unrelated and majority & minority can be on the bass of votes. That is the way it should be. But in practice, majority & minority is always on the basis of religion & race, and representation is clearly on the basis of a relation. In short, an individual belonging to a minority race or religion can never truly represent the aspirations of the majority race or religion in a democratic nation. Though all of us (including me) acclaimed the democratic spirit of American nation when they elected a black President, the simple truth of practical democracy shall prevail sooner or later. Obama will not be able to live up the actual expectations of a majority of Americans. To make matters worse, the cunning formidable Whites in his cabinet will utilize this situation and make it worse for him. They will ensure that no black will ever again get to the post. Obama’s problem will start the moment he compromises with Political Islam that is resurgent all over the world. America’s withdrawal from Iraq, tilt in favour of Palestine and lowering the guard against the evil three will reopen the era of terrorism in American soil once again. Obama’s reactions will lack the moral authority that a White in his place can easily dictate. Finally it will even come to a stage that he will be impeached for undermining the national security of America and Americans. India will have a lot to learn from this.
