there will be a time
when the ragpicker
will smile, melt into
euphoric dreams
and hutments will
not stink odour emanating
from the garbage will smell
of incense, o lord i stoop
to love this benighted land
where dusk falls every moment
and the chreubic rose smells
of fragrance tinged with dreams

then can I say dream India
clarion call love India
boisterous rollicking smothering
rubbish of city's dream,
India, India, India

the ragpicker's mouth dribbles
at sight of left over food,
dream India, dream India, dream India.
